Position Announcement – Program Manager
Princeton Project 55 (PP55) is seeking a dynamic individual to co-manage Project 55’s fellowship programs. This position is ideal for someone who is eager to have significant responsibility, to learn about managing programs and nonprofit organizations, and to network with a diverse community of volunteers and staff enthusiastic to mentor and support him/her.
About Princeton Project 55
Princeton Project 55’s mission is to inspire and build civic leadership among alumni and students by engaging them in significant activities that influence and improve our society. PP55 is an independent 501(c)(3) based in Princeton, New Jersey and has a dedicated and active board of twenty-seven and staff of five.
Fellowship Programs
The mission of the Public Interest Program (PIP) is to provide opportunities to recent Princeton graduates to develop a lifelong commitment to civic engagement and to prepare for civic leadership. The PIP places graduating Princetonians into one-year fellowships with innovative non-profit and community organizations around the country. Since 1990, the PIP has placed students and recent graduates in nearly 1,300 summer internships and year-long fellowships. The Public Health Fellowship (PHF), established in 2006, seeks to develop leadership in the field of public health by matching organizations and applicants specifically interested in public health issues.
Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Program Manager will be responsible for co-managing and supporting PP55’s fellowship programs. His/her primary responsibility will be facilitating the effective engagement of regional Princeton alumni volunteers and nonprofit partner organizations toward the achievement of fellowship program goals.
The Program Manager will support, at a distance and through occasional visits, alumni volunteers who provide the on-the-ground support to fellows and partner organizations. The Program Manager will also be the primary contact for partner organizations, guiding them throughout the application and matching processes.
The Program Manager will partner closely with a current staff member (who manages applicant recruitment and other special projects) on the application and interview process, and other areas of overlap. The Program Manager will report to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities may include:
- Developing materials to recruit and inform program participants
- Developing and organizing regional volunteer trainings and events
- Strengthening partner relationships among alumni, fellows, partner organizations, and PP55 staff
- Serving as the point of contact for partner organizations and alumni volunteers
- Assisting in interviews and matching fellowship applicants
- Creating and reviewing evaluations to assess programs and measure impact
- Occasionally traveling to visit partner organizations, fellows, and volunteers
- Working with other staff on programmatic strategic planning
- Presenting at Project 55 Board meetings
- Composing articles for PP55’s newsletter and website
- Supporting organization-wide projects and events as needed

- Proven success at problem solving/trouble shooting
- Steadiness under pressure
- PC computer skills, notably Microsoft Office and as well as desire to learn new programs including Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and NetCommunity
- Sense of humor
- One - preferably two - years of professional experience
- B.A./B.S.
Applicants should be willing to make a two-year commitment.
Salary
Starting salary will range from $30-40,000 depending on previous experience with potential for increase in subsequent years. Compensation includes medical and dental insurance, retirement benefits, and 20 days of paid time off, and generous holidays.
Location
The position is located in the Princeton Project 55 office at 12 Stockton Street in Princeton, NJ.
